Perfect Solution for a Theatre at Home

Strengths: Very Compact and Light Weight Sharp and Bright Image Almost Plug and Play - simple enought to setup

Weakness: No Weaknesses as such... Need to be in a dark room for perfect quality Heats up - but this can be true for any projector

Turn your Living Room into a movie theatre - you will be amazed at the quality of the image projected on the wall in dark room condition. Use the Component / DVI interfaces to your DVD player/ Laptop for a true 16:9 High Definition experiance. With this projector, you will not regreat.... for the price and for great image quality.

Excellent choice for budger buyers

Strengths: For $1000, this is as good as a projector can get. This PJ has better spec compared to SP4805. high contrast. very sharp image from the projector, even if it's shot to a white wall.

Weakness: It is almost impossible to feed 854x480 input directly from my laptop. Before buying, check if your computer can transmit 854x480 resolution picture to your PJ, becuase 1:1 pixel matching is a must.

I wouldn't have bought this PJ if I knew I coulnd't get 1:1 pixel matching with my computer. It's no problem, if you're going to use it with a DVD-player. however, ppl like me would have go through some trouble setting up softwares such as Powerstrip or drivers from the graphic card manufacturers.

Very impressed

Strengths: size, price, picture quality, ease of setup, remote, hd programming is truly awesome, dvds look great, rbg component input, fast warm up (under a minute)

Weakness: runs hot, light leaking when ceiling mounted, some fan noise

I struggled between buying this unit and a 4805 InFocus. I made the right decision going with the H 31. I was very concerned about set up and reliability. So far So good. My unit worked and looked great right out of the box. After slight calibration it looks perfect to me and I am picky. Brightness was also a concern of mine and I am happy to Say it looks great even with the lights on, but It is...

Optoma H31

Strengths: Compact, easy to use, clarity

Purchased from Visual Apex, and am very happy with both the product and Visual Apex. Got what I wanted the first time (in good condition) and love the projector. Using it to do presentations and am very happy with the quality image it displays.

Good projector with very good price

Strengths: Sharp image, good contrast and good color. Light weight. Simple setup. Inexpensive.

Weakness: If I have to say something, it smells a little. But it is common among all kinds of projectors.

First of all, the appearance is attractive (I love its white body). I had read reviews about it before I ordered it, which says 'low resolution (which means longer seat-to-screen distance)' and was worried about this problem. However it has turned out all right. I tested it in my apartment bedroom, it works well. The color and contrast are satisfactory, at least for the movie I watched with it....

A major dissapointment

Strengths: stylish, smooth-film like images, good contrast and blacks, nice and bright.

Weakness: Terrible reliability, poor color rendering that even after major calibration is never really correct.

I was very excited about this projector from the get go. Unfortunately I had to send 4 of them back due to various major issues like menu freezes that then cause the unit to freeze completely forcing shutdown of the unit by pulling the power plug(2nd unit). At startup the brightness fades within two minutes and the unit shuts it's self off, then the lmap must be reseated as the the problem...

Poor lamp reliability - Don't Buy

Strengths: Cheap and easy to install. Very good picture when working.

Weakness: Poor reliability- Lamp failed to turn on after a couple of weeks on 3 units

I chose to buy this projector based on very good reviews in pricegrabber and also in the visualapex web site and the low price. I was very happy for the first couple of weeks but then the lamp started failing to turn on. This seems to happen occasionally even after the lamp has been off for one day. I thought this was just a fluke since recent reviews that I read did not mention any lamp...

Plantronics H31 Digital Projector

Strengths: high performance with good price, digital input

Weakness: lens shift still not good enough

just updated my projector from H30 to H31, per comparison, the performance of H31 is better than H30, especially the digital(HDMI & DVI) input surface. Lens shift is also available on this model, but regarding feature is still not perfect compare with Z2/Z3

great projector

Strengths: size of screen and sharpness. for the money a great first projector for the house

Weakness: the room needs to be completly dark for the projector to look the best

this is my first projector, but i have been using them at work for over two years.. can not beat the quality for the money. settings are easy to change. great remote

Good starter projector for a reasonable price.

Strengths: 16:9 native resolution, DLP 2+ chip, 4 speed 6 segment color wheel, low noise, easy setup.

Weakness: "Screen door" effect - not great resolution. Runs pretty hot.

I was looking for a replacement projector for my piece of junk BenQ (see my review on the BenQ PB8220), and this was the best projector I could find that was within my budget ($1,400). The only drawback that made me hesitate about buying this projector was the resolution. The BenQ had better resolution and looked fantastic... when it worked. After it broke 5 times, I gave up on BenQ. Optoma had...

Optoma H31 DLP Front Projector Review

We get asked fairly regularly to review more budget-minded products for our readers. In particular, everyone seems fascinated by the influx of lower-priced front projection systems that are competing for a large financial portion of the home theater display market. These front projection systems promise large viewing screens with an almost unbeatable price point. Sure there are trade-offs, mostly...

Optoma H31 16x9 DLP Video Projector

The DLP-equipped Optoma H31 16x9 video projector, right out of the box, produces very good detail and color accuracy. Colors and shadows are even and retain their intended characteristics even in the darkest scenes. Even though the H31 does not have as high a lumens output or native HD-resolution capability of more expensive units, it still hits the mark in terms of providing excellent value in...
