Decent Burning Suite Option

Strengths: Works most of the time. Can handle simple tasks without problems.

Weakness: Sometimes crashes. Borderline bloatware.

This is a decent option for your burning needs. It's by no means perfect, but it gets the job done most of the time. The problem is that you sometimes get random error messages and random crashes. The other problem is that installing this software also forces you to install a bunch of peripheral programs that don't do much. This can lead to waste of computer resources.

Everyone has used the OEM version of this program pre-installed on a new PC or included with DVD-burner and the full version doesn't disappoint. Everyone has used the OEM version of this program pre-installed on a new PC or included with DVD-burner and the full version doesn't disappoint. For those without a Windows media center PC this program will almost do the same. Nero tries to make it as user friendly as possible and i think novice users will find it easy to use. Many programs and tools to help you get the most out of all your media. Not perfect as you need a third party program to be able to back up dvds.

The price is a little high but you can get it for about 20 after rebate. Try it for free before you buy at their main website.

Nero 7 Ultra

Strengths: full featured

Weakness: none

I upgraded from 6 to 7 because of a rebate deal on the software. So far it's been fine. I like the fact that the software let's me convert audio and video and burn to cd or dvd in one easy step.

Nero 7 Ultra Edition

Strengths: It seems to work well with Vista

Weakness: It is very busy I seem to still like the 5 version the best:(

I tend to like Nero better than Roxio and it sems to work well with any sort of burner I have used unlike Roxio. It is also very affordable right now with a few rebates one being an upgrade rebate. Its not as user friendly as I would like but it works well with everything so it turns into two thumbs up from me:)

Nero 7 can do it all

The most useful features, in my opinion, that you may not know about are it's powerful video file conversion (you can take dvd discs or video files and convert them to mp4 for use on ipod/psp or to put on you laptop hard drive, and customize any of the file settings such as video resolution, audio/video bitrate, or you can just tell it what you want to put the movie on: 1gb flash drive, etc. and let it choose the settings). One other feature that I like is the ability to burn to multiple drives simultaneously. If you have multiple burners, you can just select them all, and they will burn at the same time, at their max speed. A great timesaver if making multiple discs and your system can handle it.

Nero 7 also works seemlessly with dvdshrink and anydvd which allows you to back up just about any dvd you own.
